Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris born October 20th 1964) is an American politician and lawyer who is currently the 49th vice-president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female vice-president and the highest ranking female politician in U.S history. Being a part of the Democratic Party, she was the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017 and was she was a United States senator representing California in 2017-2021. Harris was born in Oakland and graduated from Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. She began her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office prior to being enlisted into the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and later the City Attorney of San Francisco's office. In 2003, she became the San Francisco district attorney. In 2010 Harris was appointed Attorney General for California. She was re-elected in 2014. Between 2017 and 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the first African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. As a senator, Harris advocated for federal de-scheduling of healthcare, and cannabis legalization, a path to citizenship of undocumented immigrants, and the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. The sharp questions she asked Trump officials in Senate hearings has garnered her national attention, including the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh who was indicted with sexual assault.
