Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran, born on March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a public speaker and consultant, a speaker, columnist syndicated as an author, author, and television presenter. In 2001, she founded The Corcoran Group in New York City. The company was sold to the company to NRT for $66 millions. Then, shortly after, she exited from the business. Corcoran is among ABC's initial Shark Tank investors. To date, she has been in each season of Shark Tank. Corcoran has been involved in 53 deals as of February, 2020. The largest was a $350,000 investment that will cover 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran is the second of 10 children from a Catholic family with a low-income was born in Edgewater in New Jersey.  Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was a bouncing from job to job throughout Corcoran's youth. The family relied sometimes on free food delivery from a friendly local supermarket. Corcoran states that her father was a drunken man who was rude to her mother and sarcastic remarks. Corcoran struggled at school, and was later told that she had dyslexia. Corcoran attended the local Catholic elementary school before beginning high school in St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran dropped several classes during her first year and transferred to Leonia High School where she was an A student.
